SF: Well, our music industry was completely shut down for jeez, almost a year for real and
there’s parts of the world that still haven't opened up, so yes. We make our living and what we
do usually by touring around, so that’s really been impacted.

BiTS: I gather you’re about to start a tour which goes around Texas and then up into Canada. Do
                                                                                     you like touring? Is it
                                                                                     something you enjoy?

Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, 2019. SF: Yes, it is. It’s a very
                                                                                     important part of our jobs
                                                                                     and it’s something I
                                                                                     always enjoy. Playing live
is really what we do and
it’s what we do best, or I

                                                                                     do best. If you’ve heard
my albums or you like my
                                                                                     albums, well you’ve got to
                                                                                     see me live because that’s
                                                                                     where the real stuff

                                                                                     happens for me
                                                                                     [laughing].

                                                                                     BiTS: I’ve noticed over
the years looking at some of your tours that you always tend to travel through Canada for a
     short while.

SF: Yes, that’s where I’m from, so I try to get up there a lot.

     BiTS: Do you miss it?

SF: Yes, I absolutely miss it. I love Canada.

BiTS: But you’ve made a life in Austin?

SF: Well, I’m in Austin because of the music that’s from down here, the blues scene and the
weather is also a little easier on the body. Canadian winters are rough, so I kind of just like it
     down here now.

BiTS: You’ve played quite literally all over the world in places that some of us will never get to

go to. Have you ever been on stage performing and thinking to yourself while you’re playing,
what on Earth am I doing here?

SF: [Laughs] I don’t know if I think it quite like that, but sometimes I think wow, how did I get
here? This is amazing when you’re in a place like Jerusalem, or some wild place. You just kind of
look around. I mean, we’re really fortunate to be able to see the world and I’ve always had a
keen sense of adventure and I love to travel, and I love to move, so it works for me.

BiTS: That’s lovely. Making a move like you did at 21 from Canada down to Austin is quite an
     adventure, to say the least.

SF: Yes, I always had a keen sense of adventure and I love to get out and see things and move
     around.
