The album catches the raw energy of our live performances.
BITS: What, where and when is/was the best gig you have ever done?
Annee: The first gig I did was with
my cousin. I sang and he played
piano. That was at my local school
when I was aged 9/10. From then on,
we continued to perform whenever
possible – markets, corporate gigs,
school events and parties.
Once Annee 2CU Blues started, the
band did many outdoor gigs. Some of
these included:
▪Brews, Blues and BBQs
▪Bikes, BBQS & The Blues
▪Bay of Islands Country Rock
Festivals
▪Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues
Festivals
▪Blues in the Bays (Blockhouse Bay)
My favourite gig had to be at the Bay
of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival,
about six years ago, where we
performed ‘When A Blind Girl Cries’
at Hotel Paihia and the atmosphere
was ethereal. Probably the most
amazing feeling as a performer.
This song’s performance was
recorded (in two different
videos)and captured the atmosphere.
It has been posted on Annee 2CU Blues Facebook page numerous times. (See overleaf)
BiTS: Who - what blues music - do you listen to for relaxation?
Annee: I listen to Blues music all the time. I enjoy Blues that is powerful and emotional with
strong guitar work, e.g. Gary Moore, Alvin Lee. However, I appreciate all styles of music, as I
believe every genre of music has its own special contribution and as a musician you can always
learn new skills from any type of music.
BiTS: You have made a number of records - which do you prefer and why?
Annee: My favourite album would be “A Wildfire Out of Control”. Probably for me personally
because it was the last lot of music my cousin did with me before passing away; so yes, extra
special. I love the songs on that album and the power and energy they have.
BiTS: You are not a full time musician - what is your job? Any aspirations to become fully pro?
