Johnny Taylor has one version where he starts the song off with a big “Ha!” I did that
on our first take and all the guys burst out laughing! I was so startled – then I joined

    them in the laughter.

5 Life's Struggles Original Composition: Everywhere people are struggling but
making the most of it. No one is immune to hardship or heartache. There’s a line in

the second verse that says, “Mama, Daddy sadly both have died;-left me feeling
like giving up inside;…had to grab the good book swallow my pride; had to
grab the good book swallow my pride!” On many levels I am still grieving, but I
    realize I am not alone.

    What the GUYS Thought

It’s one of the guy’s favourites. They enjoyed the groove.

6 It Took A Long Time Blues Man! I cried so long over this one guy, that I got sick

and tired of being sick and tired. This song swings hard, and compels you to get up,
wash your face, and get back in the game! Go hard or go home.

    What the GUYS Thought

They loved swinging! I mean they just played their asses off!

7 Breathe Again Original Composition: The end of a love relationship is often
multi-layered. It’s like peeling back skins of an onion. When it happened to me, I
didn’t think I could make it. I need God in my relationship, I need faith, without it,

I’m lost. Healing takes time. It just does.

    What the GUYS Thought

Everyone was lost in quiet reflection.

8 Smokestack Lightning BLUES is in my DNA, and when I heard this song, I
jumped up and started dancing a jig! Even during rehearsal, I just starting dancing
a jig ‘cause it tickles me on a real soulful level. It makes me grin from ear to ear.

    What the GUYS Thought

Howling Wolf was quite the character. Grins and nods all around. I couldn’t howl
in front of the guys…way too bashful! I had to practise in the shower until I got it
    right!

8 Too High A Price To Pay Original Composition- Most musicians I know have
to wear many hats to keep food on the table — teach, write music, give workshops.
    I had a 9-5 working with non-profits serving homeless families. I’m talking 20 plus

years, till it got to this point. I was putting in 12 hour days. I just want people to care
for each other — change the world one human being at a time.

    What the GUYS Thought

The guys gave me deep respect. Silence is golden, this was the last track we laid

down. I hadn’t even finished my lyrics. When that session was over we went outside
