BiTS: Yeah, did you say that’s already recorded?
AV: Yeah, it’s been recorded. We recorded it in February of this year, I believe. This year’s been a
blur, but we recorded it at the beginning of the year and then we were going to put it out in
June/July of this year and then all the COVID stuff happened and then we just pushed it to next year.
The beginning of next year.
BiTS: Do I take it you are managed by family. Is it your dad that manages you?
AV: Yes, my dad is the one that’s managed me ever since we first started and he’s still my manager
[laughs].
BiTS: Yeah, absolutely terrific. It’s a family affair. Have you got other family, brothers and sisters
or that sort of thing?
AV: Yeah, I have a younger brother. His name’s Dylan and then my mom Cissy. But he does not play
music. He doesn’t do music [laughing].
BiTS: When you were growing up, apart from the singing in the choir, was there a lot of music in
the house?
AV: Yeah, so my parents were not musicians, but they were music lovers. They exposed me to so
many different types of music and my parents really homed in on the 80s, like the glam rock and
they really loved Ratt and all those hair bands [laughing].
BiTS: [Laughing] okay, yeah. Forgive me for saying so, you’re still very young. I’m a great deal older
than you are and you’ve got a life ahead of you. Where do you expect to be in say ten years’ time?
Five years’ time, let’s make it five years. Ten years is too long.
AV: [Laughs] My goal is to just continue writing music and meeting new people and just continuing
to make a living doing what I love and playing gigs and travelling and making people happy with my
music.
BiTS: I just realised you must have been gigging and going out maybe even on tour, when you were
still in high school. Am I right about that?
AV: Yeah, it wasn’t like super hard touring, but yes, I would go to different states and my teachers
were really good about letting me go and I would just do my work at a different time, or I would
schedule it around my schedule. But yeah, I did, I went to festivals and the weekend warrior type
thing when I was in high school. I would miss a couple of days and I’d come back for a week.
BiTS: Very obliging teachers, to say the least.
AV: Yes [laughing]. I live in a small town, so it wasn’t like it was a big school.
BiTS: Now tell me you’ve played in lots and lots of places, all over the world, in fact, is there any
place that you’ve been playing where you’ve been out on stage and you’ve suddenly thought to
yourself, my god, how on Earth did I get here?
