❖ A brief overview of the project
Working for a leading Indian pharma client, I was expected to
develop an operational excellence model for the
maintenance/engineering team of the client’s formulation plant.
The project revolved around analysing the as-is systems of the
client, identifying the gaps, proposing a to-be model and an
implementation roadmap of the same.
❖ How is a normal day at the Internship?
Varied largely with every progressing week. In the initial phase,
it was more about acclimatizing to the work culture,
understanding the client processes followed by some taxing
phases of data collection. In the latter half, I was engaged in
NIDICHENAMETLA AJAY
analysis of the gathered data, development of to-be model and
EY client presentations. Overall, once clear with the destination, a
plan can be sketched out distributing the work load evenly and

GENERAL INFORMATION consulting, be prepared to work for long hours.
Batch: PGDIM 25 ❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
Fortunately, I haven’t encountered any substantial challenges.
BTech: IIT Guwahati Having a proper plan of where you wish to see the project going
after your two-month stint, developing a good network and
Stream: EEE maintaining contacts with influential people at the client end will
mostly help you sail through most of your challenges.

❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
• Some things that I did right – Maintaining a project tracker and updating the project progress to the mentor
on a weekly basis, dividing the project into small pockets and aligning the stakeholders with your thought
process, being open to suggestions and feedback. Apart, from these, I majorly owe the success to a senior
of batch of 2019, who guided me throughout the project. This can be a major takeaway for all the interns –
get in touch with your buddies/seniors as soon as you get to know your project. They will surely help you
with the thought process, and/or will tag you with another senior who has worked on a similar project.
• Things that I did wrongly – Not able to recollect somethings which I can quote, but, mistakes do happen,
quite often than desired. The most important thing is to correct those mistakes as and when you can, instead
of leaving them unattended.
❖ What are the things to keep in mind in the internship?
• First impressions matter a lot. Do a bit research about the firm you will be interning at, and the mentor
under whom you will be working with. Develop a good network, and if in consulting, make sure that you are
not projecting yourself as an introvert.
