PPO Diaries
❖ A brief overview of the project
Project 1 – To analyse and find out if replacing the current
commercial vehicles used in secondary transportation
system of Dabur India Ltd. by Electric Vehicles can yield any
tangible benefit in monetary/non-monetary terms
Project 2 – To analyse and find out if a super stockist model
can be introduced in the existing secondary distribution
system leading to improvement in service levels
❖ How is a normal day at the Internship?
On my first day itself at Dabur, I was handed over 2 projects
which were crucial for the management, and I was expected
to exceed the expectations of my superiors. Each day
NILAY PANDAY brought a new set of challenges, and I can hardly remember
DABUR a time when I wasn’t working on something new. From the
first week itself, I was setting up meetings and attending
__________________________________________ conference calls with consulting giants of EV industry, then I
GENERAL INFORMATION was on field exploring warehouses and benchmarking
distribution system and next I knew, I was handed over
Batch: PGDIM 25 another assignment to finish within the same deadline. No
two days were similar, and hence it is hard to say how a
BTech: NIT, Raipur “Normal” day went.
Stream: Mechanical
Work Ex: Tata Motors
❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
Wherever you go, you are sure to face a lot of challenges – some of them trivial, some of them major. But
one major challenge which I’m sure each one of you would be facing is to convince people around you
that what you’re doing is right (when you’re right). Not everyone in the industry is welcome to changes –
because Newton’s law of inertia works on its full strength there. So to drive any minor change, it requires
a lot of determination and persuasion. Solving a problem would always be easy for you, given your
academic background. But the real challenge lies in scaling the solution & its implementation.
❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
What did I do right: To be very honest, I still do not know what exactly went right and I won’t be sure of it
even after pondering on it for long. But I think some traits which might have helped are:
i) Flexibility to change – when faced with a challenge which requires to rethink your approach
