❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
The thing I got right was understanding the business sense of my project. How slow moving inventory is a
problem for MCC, how it affects the financials and where do we stand in respect to the competitors. I
spent some time at the store level interacting with the staff and even a few customers and it added great
value to my project
❖ what are the things to keep in mind in the internship?
The most important thing is to not get over whelmed by the expectations the companies usually have
from you. When I first discussed my project with the SCM team, they were like Pinank this a big problem
and we aren’t able to dedicate some time specifically for this and hence you have been assigned this.
The other thing is trying to understand the project from various angles. Being from supply chain, I also
worked closely with operations, procurement and marketing. This would certainly add great value
❖ What pre-internship preparation do you suggest for juniors?
There is nothing much required as most of the companies have a full-fledged internship program to help
the students. I would suggest to understand the industry in which your company operates (Ex. Retail, E-
Comm, Banking, FMCG etc) and some basics of MS Excel and you would be good to go
❖ Anything else you would like to add
Interact with as many people you can and get inputs from them. Always be in touch with NITIE Alums
working in the company as they are certainly the best source of help you can have
All the best!!
