       PPO Diaries

❖ What are the things to keep in mind in the internship?

       • Try not to obsess over bagging a PPO, instead focus on the work. Do justice to yourself and your project.
Know your strengths and play on them.
       • Take time to understand the project objectives and deliverables, even if it means spending days on it or
going over it multiple times. It will save valuable time later.
       • Identify your stakeholders, understand and align with their perspectives. Be in close touch with your
mentor/ key stakeholders. Make sure they know what you are up to, since they will be the ones backing you
          up.
       • Work on your PPTs along with the project work. Making the PPT can be very time consuming. It will be the
reflection of your work, so give it due importance. Don’t add anything on your presentation that you’re not
          sure of. It may back-fire.
       • Make sure you explain your project to everyone who are going to be present in your review and seek their
inputs. These people defend you and build a case in your favour when you’re not present.
       • Try to have your mid review as early as possible. That gives you more time to work on the feedback you
receive and your end review. Implementation of the project is of utmost importance.
       • Spend a good part of your time after mid-review carrying out trial runs and pilots as they prove whether
your project can be implemented or not.

❖ What pre-internship preparation do you suggest for juniors?
       • Basic Excel knowledge (Creation of dashboards, macros etc.)
       • Power-point presentations
       • Basic knowledge in R will help to handle data intensive projects easily.

❖ Anything else you would like to add
Try not to obsess over the PPO. Don’t let fear bog you down. Be confident and be positive in your thoughts.
Don’t compare yourself to fellow interns. Give the best you can. Make sure, that at the end, you are satisfied
with your work. Make some good friends, memories and try to enjoy the 2 months. While the company will
assess you on your work during internship, it is an opportunity to assess the company if it is a right fit for you
during this period. All the Very Best!
