❖ A brief overview of the project
I had three projects in Ice-cream distribution of Unilever. First
project was to allocate right kind of trucks on different routes
to increase their optimisation. Second project was to optimise
the supply chain and minimise distribution cost with existing
warehouses and network. Third project was to minimise the
total distribution cost as much as possible by revamping the
whole Ice-cream distribution system.
❖ How is the normal day at the internship?
I used to reach the Unilever campus in Mumbai at 8 am from
NITIE Campus, have my breakfast after reaching. Then I would
start working on my project, I made sure that I catch my tutor
SHIVAM AGRAWAL when she comes office. It’s better to take their time early in
the morning, later in the day they get busy. Then I used to work
HUL all day on my laptop, interacting with different people on the
__________________________________________ way whenever any problem pops up. I used to leave office
typically at 8pm.
GENERAL INFORMATION
❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
Batch: PGDIE 48
There were many challenges throughout the internship, right
BTech: BIT, Mesra from the beginning till the end. I was anxious before starting
the internship as I had no clue what I am going to do in the
Work Ex: Indian Oil internship. I had difficulties in understanding the deliverables
of the project when the internship started. As the internship
Corporation proceeded I started having anxiety, whether I will finish this
project in time; will be able to deliver anything significant. You get all sort of challenges during the internship
but the most challenging will be the ones where you will be overthinking.
❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
Things I did right:
1. I stayed connected with as much people as possible, atleast all the alums in Unilever and also the last
year interns.
2. As soon as I got the project, I started working on it and asked almost all the seniors and super-senior
who have any similarity to my project.
3. I constantly checked my project progress with my tutor and other stakeholders in the project.
4. I enjoyed my internship tenure, I breathed my summer project.
5. I worked really hard, I used to work in the night after coming to my room, so NO substitute for hard
work.
