Project Details: Optimization of Truck Load ability in K2
Shipments for Snacks and Noodles
Achievements:
1. Implementation of Excel Based Tool improved Load
ability by 2.5 % (Cost saving of nearly 4 Cr/Year)
2. Redesigned CFC improved Load ability and saved nearly
4.5 Cr/Year in Raw Material + Loading costs
❖ How is a normal day at the Internship?
I interned at ITC Foods Limited Bangalore Division; there I was
THORAT GANESH VIJAY part of the Production Planning team. My day usually started
by reaching to office at 9 AM, then I used to review my pending
ITC works and plan the day ahead. Once it’s over; I used to meet
_________________________________________ my guide and discuss next course of action (whether to do the
data analysis, calling the stakeholders or visit the
GENERAL INFORMATION manufacturing plants as per the need). Throughout the day I
tried to talk to NITIE seniors and my team members regarding

the challenges I was facing and used to take their suggestions.
Stream: Mechanical To capitalize on free time my guide may get in the evening, I
used to stay up late in office.
Work Ex: KSB Pumps Ltd, Sometimes I had to visit the plants for few days, then there I
used to spend my time recording the current practices. After

brainstorming, I used to discuss the problems and possible
solutions with the stakeholders at the plant.
❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
1. Understanding the project scope and aligning the stakeholders with the common objective points
2. Collecting the right and relevant data for the project
3. Finding the out of the box ideas to address the problem statement
4. Maintaining the higher confidence regarding the outcome of the work
5. Optimum use of time given by the guide/ other seniors to make most out of it.
❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
Right:
1. I was able to align all stakeholders with the objectives of the project and their expectations from it.
