❖ A brief overview of the project
Internship at Deloitte is a very structured and organised affair,
the culture is very open and flexible, and everyone is
approachable. The project assigned to me was going on for 2
years, so I had a lot of catching up to do. Now, since it was an
old project, almost everyone had worked on some part of it in
the past, so there was no scope for error.
The objective of the project was to reduce unproductive hours
for a major American Airline. It involved extracting and
crunching through hundreds of variables and millions of lines
of data. I had to learn and produce results using tools I had
rarely used before. It was exciting to be solving real issues, and
just the realisation that my inputs were being valued and
VIVEK KUMAR JHA considered was amazing. I was always aware of the bigger
picture and of why I was doing what I was doing. There was
never a slow day in the office, everyday brought excitement
DELOITTE USI
and everyday there was something new to learn.

GENERAL INFORMATION ❖ How is a normal day at the Internship?
We were treated as first year consultants, and like them we
Batch: PGDIM 25 had to take up multiple initiatives apart from projects that
were assigned to us. These were meant to judge you on
B.Tech: BIT Mesra multiple fronts, and the expectation was that you interact and
work with as many individuals there as possible. I took up 2
Stream: Mechanical
initiatives and 2 proposals in addition to my project. My day
Work Ex: Hero Moto Corp Ltd started with a handover call from my point of contact
where we set the expectations for the deliverables. During the day, there would be multiple conference calls to
confirm the direction and quality of the deliverables. Apart from this, meetings were held for initiatives, which
were usually tools being developed for use in later projects. Here my manufacturing experience came in handy
and I used it to improve the tool. The proposals that I had undertaken, required a lot of background work, as
there was no boundary of possibilities. The expectation in a proposal was to conduct secondary research and
find opportunities for a future project using reliable sources for data. There were instances where I spend hours
researching and came up with next to nothing to show for it. Deadlines were exactly that, they couldn’t be
crossed in any case, the phrase ‘on time is late’ really was practiced.
The best thing you will find in Deloitte are its resources, the people who worked there, if you had issues or
doubts about anything at any time, everyone on or offsite was completely approachable, even if they were
busy, and couldn’t answer immediately, they made sure to get back to you later and clear your concerns. There
were meetings every week conducted by the internship team specifically to solve our problems, be it
professional or personal. And at least once a week there would be a get together to relax and enjoy, usually it
would be after hours, and everyone joined.
