Chapter 5

What to do while you're in the Express Entry pool

Now that you’re in the Express Entry pool , let’s explor e what you can do while you wait
            for invitation rounds to occur.

            1. Get your documents ready

Having your documents ready as soon as pos sible will give you peace of mind and
allow you to move quickly if or when you receive an ITA. Keep in mind you will on ly
have 60 days to submit an application for permanent residence after receiving an ITA.

            2. Check your language tests

You want to make sure that your language tests will remain valid for the duration of
the process. Language tests are valid for two years from the date they were issued and
must also be valid on the day that you are invited to submit an application for
            permanent residence.

If you apply with expired language test results, you r application will be refused.

If it seems like your test results will expire before you receive an ITA, you can do the
            following:

                 1. Do another test
                 2. Apply before your test results expire (if pos sible)
                 3. Decline the ITA and go back into the Express Entry pool for future con sideration

            3. Get your police certificates

            P
will be required of you and any family members whoolice certificates are 18 or ol der.
Since these documents often take time to ob tain, ask for them as soon as you ’re in the

            Express Entry pool.
