Chapter 6: Express Entry and the PNP
How to get a PNP Nomination through Express Entry
There are two ways that lead to being nom inated by a prov ince or territor y.
1. A province or territory finds your Express Entry profile and contacts you
In this case, provinces and territories use the por tal to search for candidates. They can
narrow their search by filtering prof iles for language ability, education , wor k
experience, etc. The process can be brok en down as follow s:
a) Provinces and territories can find you r prof ile if you selected them as you r
preferred destination while completing you r prof ile. They may also find you if
you selected “all provinces and territor ies”.
b) If a province or territory is interested in you , they will send you a
“notification of interest” letter directly in you r accou nt. This letter will instruct
you to contact the province or territor y directly to discuss you r op tion s. NOTE:
The notification of interest letter is not a provincial nomination, nor does it
guarantee that you will be nominated.

c) You will need to directly in order to
apply to their PNP Express Entry stream. You will not be using you r accou nt to
communicate with them. The province or territor y will assess you and ask you
to provide your Express Entry prof ile number and .

d) If your application to the province or territor y is approv ed, you will receive a
message in your account asking you if you accept or do not accept the
nomination. You can find the nomination at the top of you r
Application/profile details page. From there, simply click the ‘accept’ or ‘not
accept’ button in your account.
e) If you accept the nomination, you will get a letter in you r accou nt that
confirms the nomination and you will receive 600 addition al poi nts that will
essentially guarantee an ITA in a subsequent draw.
f) If you decline or ignore the nomination , you will remain in the Express Entry
pool and may be invited to apply under a different prog ram that you meet the
eligibility requirements for.
