Chapter 7
Getting your Invitation to Apply (ITA)
As draws/invitations rounds occur, the highest ranked candidates in the Express Entry
pool are issued an ITA.
Every draw/invitation round has a minimum CRS score cut- f (low est scor e needed to
obtain an ITA) which is determined at the time of the draw. Many variables help
determine what this cut-off score will be, such as the government’s immigration
targets, the time in between draws, the number of candidates in the Express Entry
pool, etc.
You can find and review the details of previou s Express Entry draws/invitation s rou nds

on .
In the event of a tie for the lowest CRS score cut- f, the government uses som ething
tie-breaking rule
called a “ ” to select candidates. To illustrate what the tie- reaking rule
does, let’s use an example:
The latest Express Entry draw occurs and 3500 ITAs are issued to the highest ranked
candidates in the pool. The minimum CRS score required is 350. Because of a limited
number of ITAs being issued in any given draw, som e candidates who were able to
achieve a CRS score of 350 won’t receive an ITA, while ot hers will. In the case of a CRS
tie, the system will rank all tied candidates based on the date and time that they
submitted their profile.
Updating your profile won’t change you r place in line. How ever, it will if you
withdraw your profile and create a new on e or you r prof ile expires and you have to
submit a new one.
