Chapter 5: What to do in the Express Entry pool

            4. Try to improve your Express Entry profile

There are a number of steps that you can take to improv e you r prof ile and thereby
increase your chances of receiving an ITA:

                   1. Retake your language tests and try to get a better score. Language is a
factor where incremental gains can make a big difference in you r ov erall CRS
                   score.

                   2. Get more work experience or document work experience that you haven’t
provided supporting documentation for. For example, you may have som e
work experience that you chose not to document because you believed it
wasn’t “skilled enough”, but is in fact considered skilled accor ding to the
                                                                                                       system.
                   National Occupational Classification (NOC)

                   3. Improve your education by obtaining an additional degree or undergoi ng
an ECA for any other degrees you haven’t yet evaluated and for which you can
                   claim points.

                   4. Make sure that your profile is always up to date. If anything changes, such
as starting a new job or getting a divorce, make sure the information in you r
profile reflects the change. Having an accurate prof ile is extremely impor tant,
as providing false information can pot entially result in you r application being
refused, being found inadmissible and even barred from applying to com e to
Canada for five years. Always keep you r prof ile updated.

                   5. Check to see if your spouse or common-law partner would make a better
principal applicant (if applicable). If you’re married or in a common - aw
relationship, only one of you can be the principal applicant. The principal

applicant should be the person who meets the eligibility requirements of on e
of the Express Entry programs and who will be able to achieve the highest
