Research on the Internet Usage Habits of Students of
Vinogradska Nursing School
Mobile devices and the Internet are part of students' everyday life and everyone uses them for
their benefit. The Internet provides information, the availability of social networks and various
contents. Self-control over behavior and time devoted to the virtual world is achieved if the use
of the Internet has a clear goal and purpose. A student who spends most of his time on the
Internet checking social networks and online content and often, instead of going out, chooses
to stay at home living his life through social networks greatly increases the risk of developing
addiction.
When talking about addiction, the first thing that usually comes to mind is addiction to
psychoactive substances. However, addiction can also develop without introducing
psychoactive or other chemical substances into the body. By using the Internet for longer
periods of time, students become socially isolated, physically and mentally exhausted, which
affects family and social relationships and school success. Students who have difficulty
controlling their own behavior, as well as insecure, withdrawn and lonely students, are at greater
risk of developing an addiction to the Internet. Today, more and more teenagers and young
people are developing an addiction to the Internet, without either them or their parents being
aware of it, which becomes a serious problem for their successful and productive life.
At the Vinogradska Nursing School, a survey was conducted on Internet addiction among
students in the third, fourth and fifth grades. A questionnaire based on Chen's internet addiction
scale adapted to students was used for the research. The research results will be presented in
the form of a poster presentation.
