Credit Building Toolkit
How do you build your credit as
an authrozed user?
Being an authorized user can help anyone with poor
credit or no credit history build and have one. Here is
the way to do it as an authorized user:
● Get added to an authorized card: Ask someone who
trusts you and who you can trust to add you to their
card. This could be your family member, guardian, or
friend. You simply need to reach out to the account or
credit card owner's bank or issuer. Note that before the
primary cardholder can add you, the cardholder will
have to provide some of your details such as SSN,
contact information, name, I.D., and the date of birth to
their bank or issuer. And after verification, you will be
sent a credit card engraved with your name.
● Work and focus on payment plans: As mentioned
above, the card owner is responsible for the bills, but
then defaulting in the payment agreement will reflect
both parties' credit history. Hence, you want to make
sure that you both work out a solid plan and focus on
executing it not to miss or delay payment. This also
should involve mapping out the spending limit that
won't affect the primary card owner's credit utilization.
