Exam Grade 2
Comment James finds chemical concepts quite demanding in a separate
Chemistry set. He had variable scores on his topic tests depending on
the topic covered, achieving 45% overall, but his end of year
examination was a bit low, 21%. This translates into IGCSE grade 2.
Some lost marks were due to lack of revision and some were lost due
to lack of understanding or missed key words in his answers. James
handles laboratory equipment with care and he is confident
performing GCSE experiments.
Target(s) James must review the topics listed in the targets and return rested for
the challenges of year 11. Next year he will need to continue investing
time, reading the questions carefully and seeking assistance if he is to
improve his grade. Also, he would benefit from paying close attention
to the wording of questions and improve the level of detail in his
answers. James should complete all set summer revision tasks to
better prepare for the further GCSE work in Chemistry.

Exam Grade 4
Comment James is a pleasant student who is making steady progress within the
subject. Attitude and behaviour within lessons is generally good and
James can work independently. There has been the occasional
organisation issue when work has not been fully up to date or
completed by the deadline and this is an area of focus for Yr11.
James has worked well this year, attaining a Grade 6 in his
Brontosaurus practical project, a Grade 5 in his CAD/CAM light and
folder but got a Grade 4 in his recent exam, showing more focus is
required in this area.
Target(s) As we have now started on the Non-Exam Assessment (substantial
design and make task) which is worth 50% of the GCSE, James must
work to the deadlines set and complete all work on time. James
should focus on the refinement, detail and accuracy within his design
drawings, in order to develop his abilities further and reach the higher
attainment grades. Practising 3D drawing techniques will improve the
communication of his design ideas. Additionally, James needs to
consolidate the theory work covered throughout the year.
