P. 15
Over the last year the International Working Group has continued to meet regularly to discuss
matters of International interest. Our thanks go to the Working Group members who have sup-
ported our work and activities.
We have renewed our Terms of Reference and looked at a number of specific international is-
sues for further exploration such as how we are represented on the European Women’s Lobby
(EWL) and if Brexit has an impact on the engagement of UK women’s NGOs at a European level.
In January we hosted a webinar on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). CSW is a
significant event in the United Nations and NGO’s calendar and with the help of some BPW ex-
perts we hope you learned more about CSW and perhaps signed up for some on-line events.
As your representatives we have attended a number of International and Europe events both in
person and online. The highlight of this was supporting our President, Jo, at the Europe Con-
ference, in Reykjavik, in May, along with a number of other UK members. For many of us this
was the first time we had met face-to-face so that in itself was a great opportunity as well as
meeting members from all over Europe and beyond. The programme contained a number of
speaker sessions and workshops.
We have also attended online European Presidents’ meetings and had the pleasure of meeting
most of the International Board in London in October. This was an informal meeting with great
chat and lovely food.
We hope you have found the articles on the enews informative and interesting
The next event on our calendar is the European Presidents meeting in Brussels in May this year.
We plan to attend in person and look forward to meeting our European friends again.
If you are interested in joining the International Working Group please contact Ann at HQ to
register your interest and we will welcome you to our next Working Group meeting. ▪
