Many of us have been aware of the rise in energy costs due to many factors,
not just the conflict in Ukraine. Some of us may know of or participate in the Warm
Spaces www.warmspaces.org schemes that have sprung up over the last year, and
feel a sadness for the need of this “Warm Bank” to help people from all walks of life.
The article below gives further information on the campaigners that have
sought to keep this issue in the minds of our politicians. Please click on the link to
watch the video, to see how we can stop the need for volunteers to provide this lev-
el of basic need in everyday life again this winter.
Or you can check to see how the Member of Parliament in your area has vot-
ed by checking www.parliament.uk and seeing just what they have done, or even
perhaps not…. Remember, if you are not happy with what they have or have not
done to help, you can contact them and tell them how you feel on this issue. If you
do, please let us know, as the Advocacy VP Christine Nendick keeps a record of this.
Kind regards,
Jo Kinsey
President BPW UK
The government's Energy Bill is going back to the House of Commons this
week. [1] It is vital that our MPs use their voices in parliament and make this Bill
count.
The Energy Bill is one of the biggest opportunities that this government has to alle-
viate the cost-of-living crisis, bring down our energy bills permanently and make the
climate crisis a priority. But right now, they're wasting it.
Here's what you can do about it...
