BPW Northern Ireland
Visit to Women’s Aid,
Belfast 22 May 2023
A small group of BPW Northern Ireland members and President Jo visited the
Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid on Monday 22 May to see how they are using the
MEF donation made at conference in March.
Noelle, the area manager, had arranged a lovely brunch and a chat with
some of the women who are directly benefiting from our donation through the Hu-
man Trafficking project. The women involved are refugees and asylum seekers and
we were honoured to meet some of them and hear their stories.
As Elaine says “To hear the ladies’/girls’ stories of the hardships they have
endured in their past lives and the struggles they have gone through to get to
Northern Ireland was humbling but to see how far they have come with the help of
Women’s Aid was heartening.”
Needless to say the box of tissues was passed round more than once as the
women spoke.
BPW Northern Ireland have invited the girls we met to our International
th
Lunch on Saturday 14 October. You are more than welcome to join us at this
event where we will celebrate BPW International and remember our sisters in other
countries.
As we don’t want to ask our guests to pay we would also like to ask for your
help to sponsor the women’s and their support workers’ lunches. If you would like to
make a small donation of £20 towards a lunch please send payment by bank trans-
fer to BPW Northern Ireland, at Ulster Bank account no. 17846099, sort code
98.00.10 with the reference ‘Women’s Aid Lunch’. BPW Northern Ireland thank you
for your support.
