spews from his mouth and his constant kissing. This morning on a campaign call, he vilified Dr. Fauci, calling him a “disaster” that has been around for “500 years,” and calling public health officials “idiots.”
In Tucson, fewer than 50 people awaited the president’s arrival. Surprisingly, most wore masks because, as one woman whispered, “We don’t want to be recognized.” Yesterday, Mayor Regina Romero notified the Trump campaign in writing that she expected its staff to follow CDC guidelines, and to remit payment of $81,837 in unpaid security costs from the president’s 2016 campaign visit. According to her aide, the mayor does not expect a response, and plans to file
a lawsuit against the campaign in large claims court.
The president is famous for stiffing people who work for him or on his behalf. At least ten city governments have not been reimbursed by Trump’s campaign. The largest single invoice was from Trump’s visit last year to El Paso TX, totaling $470,417. Other unpaid invoices approach $2 million.
When asked for comment, Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien insisted that the cities had promised to eat Trump’s security costs, “We’ve had minimal local security in all of these cities because their residents love-love president Trump. These damn cities are trying to extort the president, plain and simple. They should be evicted from their states and the United States. The sooner, the better.”
