 OCTOBER 27, 2020 BREAKING NEWS
Evidence is accumulating that president Trump is making money
hand over fist from American taxpayers, while White House spokesman Judd Deere (no relationship to John Deere) defended his boss in a statement this morning, “Any suggestion that the president has used his own official travel or the federal government as a way to profit off of taxpayers is an absolute disgrace and lie.”
According to several other people close to the president, “The charge is an absolute disgrace and the truth.” In 2016, candidate Trump pledged that he would “completely isolate” himself if elected and would always “put voters’ interests above his own.” Neither ever happened.
“If I win, I will never see my property again,” Trump vowed on the campaign trail, “Because I’m going to be working for you day and night, every day of the year. I’m not going to have time to play golf. I won’t have time to visit Mar-a-Lago. I won’t have time for holidays. I won’t
be traveling anywhere because – believe me – the workload will be damn unbelievable.”
In fact, the president’s D.C. hotel and Mar-a-Lago alone have taken in
at least $8.1 million since he took office. According to several reliable sources, the estimate is vastly understated because federal agencies, such as the White House and State Department, have refused to release figures. As a result, there is “no official total” of what Trump’s company has banked since he took office, but the “amounts we’re seeing are
just the tip of the iceberg,” according to Ryan Shapiro of Property of the People, a nonprofit organization “dedicated to the aggressive pursuit of government transparency.”
