Trump has made 280 trips to his hotels and clubs since taking office, and has marketed them as places to be seen, heard and rewarded. Last year he told reporters, “People like my product, what can I tell you, they can’t help themselves, they love me.”
Since 2017, taxpayers have picked up the tab for everything from ballrooms, cottages and golf carts, to candelabras, palm trees, floral arrangements, secret visitors, $88 dollar bottles of wine and $3 glasses of water. It appears that there is no “government rate,” but rather everything is charged on the basis of what the market will bear. And when Trump is the host, no opportunity to charge exploitative rates is overlooked.

An invoice from February 2018 obtained under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that there was no sales tax on any of the Mar-a-Lago hotel charges. Governor DeSantis, are you colluding?
Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, NJ charged the Secret Service $17,000 per month for a cottage from May through November, in the event that Trump’s physician suddenly prescribed golf treatment.
