The president announced in a tweet late Monday night that Pfizer cost him a “win” by delaying its vaccine announcement until after the election, “The @US_FDA and the Democrats didn’t want to have me get a Vaccine WIN, prior to the election, so instead it came out five days later – As I’ve said all along!”
Reportedly, Trump blew a gasket in a call to FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn “screaming at him” over the timing of the Pfizer announcement, calling it irrevocable “proof” that there is a “medical deep state” intent on sabotaging his election “victory.” In fact, there is no evidence whatsoever that supports Trump’s bogus accusations.
Hahn and Pfizer unequivocally deny that there was any action by either party to impede the vaccine announcement. But Hahn’s boss, Human Service Secretary Alex Azar, contradicted him and Pfizer by suggesting that the FDA contributed to the “delay” because several FDA senior staff members tested positive for Covid-45 deliberately to “make the president look bad.” A source close to Azar revealed that he “is totally spineless” and would do anything to avoid Trump’s purge list.
Meanwhile, Trump’s paranoia has been inordinately active since the election. He has denounced government employees (“the deep state”), the (“fake”) news media, the FBI, Democrats, blue states, veterans who died in war (“losers” and “suckers”), the electoral process, the FCC, the Federal Reserve Board, U.S. Department of Justice, even Fox News, to name a few of his daily targets.
