JUNE 12, 2018 BREAKING NEWS
United States Attorney General Jeffrey Beauregard Sessions III announced today that domestic abuse and gang violence are no longer legitimate reasons for asylum seekers to enter the United States. In explaining the new rule, he stressed that too many women were using “private violence” as an excuse to cross the border into the U.S.
Quoting at length from Sessions’ written ruling, Los Angeles Times reporter Jane Martin, asked why every pronoun was either “she” or “her.” “Well, I am here to tell you that in the Trump era, Crooked Hillary was flat out wrong when she declared that women’s rights are
human rights,” Sessions replied. “We can’t provide redress for
every little bitty misfortune. If these ladies obeyed their husbands and fathers, we wouldn’t be seeing all this conniving and nonsense.”
When asked if his ruling applied to asylum seekers from all countries, Sessions hemmed and hawed a few seconds, then clarified that his ruling, dubbed WHEW (We Have to Expunge Women), applies immediately to Mexico and Latin America, and will be rolled out in other countries populated by brown and black women in August.
When asked if his ruling was racially motivated, Sessions replied,
“I do not have any recollection of thinking those thoughts. I would have gladly thought those thoughts, if I had remembered them, or if they actually occurred to me, which I don’t remember that they did. I’d have to rack my brain, but right now, I don’t recall.”
