“Dan you may be aware of the other ritual of the Indian guru-shishya (teacher-student)

tradition. The student gives guru-dakshna, an offering to the guru, as a tribute to the wisdom

received? Are you ready for your guru-dakshna?”

Shock would be an understatement to describe Dan’s expressions. All he could manage to

say, “Certainly, Ron. Anything.”

“Excellent”, said Ron and paused for impact. “I need your commitment to unflinchingly

and relentlessly pursue the learnings of past few weeks. I want you to commit that irrespective

of your promotion outcome you will not quit The Global Company and spread this knowledge

to as many people as you can.”

Color returned to Dan’s face. “Ron you have my commitment.” He said with bow of his

head in reverence.

“Thanks Dan.” Ron too smiled, “I request that you convert this knowledge into a

PowerPoint presentation. I want us to introduce it as a training module for all Department

Managers in Mastery function. I will talk to Bob Soros for making it mandatory training prior

to Section Manager promotion. I will also discuss with global HR if they would like to

introduce it companywide.”

“It is a great idea Ron. I will love to do it. What would you like to call this training?”

“my Success! my Choice. What do you think?”

Dan thought for a while, “I like it a lot. It summarizes my learnings of past 8 weeks

succinctly. Anyone can choose to be successful with this knowledge.”
