“The issue is that we search happiness outside through external things – money, position,

power, materialistic things – and it alludes us because happiness is intrinsic. External things

               bring momentary pleasures not happiness.”

“Let me give you an analogy through an old fable”, Ron continued, “the males of a

particular Himalayan deer species have a unique gland that emanate musk fragrance. Not

realizing that the source of the musk fragrance is within, the deer are constantly running across

the forest in its search, instead of enjoying the fragrance. And in the process, they get hunted

               by musk poachers.”

“Happiness is no different. We search for it everywhere and in everything, except within,

and in the process keep creating unhappiness. We constantly chase the mirage without looking

               inside!”

“Your need was to be happy by becoming a Director. But what did it do to you?”

Dan’s voice was almost inaudible, “it brought a lot of anxiety and unhappiness.”

“Do not feel bad Dan. We all do this.”

“We talked this earlier, but it is so important that I must repeat it. Only our action is in our

control, not its outcome or result. Desired results or outcome are bound to come if we focus

all our energies to perform our action – duty and responsibility – to the best of our ability.

Fretting over the outcome or results, which are not in our control, only causes stress,

               anxiousness, and unhappiness.”

“Does this mean that we should not set any objective or goal Ron?”
