Introduction
Today, excellence in design continues to value craft-based principles,
through selection of beautiful materials, excellence in process and 06
a craft-like obsession with detail. In creating a more sustainable
object with embedded values, the creator must resolve themes
of identity, production, representation, regulation and consumption
in the design of new objects to promote increased personal
and cultural meaning and more sustainable and enduring
consumption.
Description
Alan LD CARVE ON, a regional indigenous craft-based
company integrates technology with traditional craft values
in production of their line of bespoke and customised fine
handcrafted leather products. At the start of this project
3 topics had to be explored and itorated. Those topics were Design
Waste-stream Upcycling, Pen & Ancillaries and Hero Piece.
After 2 out of 3 topics were chosen the final stage of
refinement has began.
