Psyche's first task was to separate all the
seeds, wheat, poppies, and millet in one
night. She succeeded with the help of the
ants. Her second task was to bring the
Golden Fleece to Venus. The sheep were very
ferocious, but she achieved it because a
voice from a green reed near the Riverbank
directed her to collect the Golden Fleece that
followed the bushes near the sheep instead.
In the third task, Psyche had to fill the
flask with water in the river Styx. This time,
she got an eagle to help. Her last task was to
bring a box containing some of the beauty of
Persephone from the underworld and give it
to Venus. But out of curiosity, she thought
of opening the box and also wanted to use
that beauty on herself. When it opened, she
found nothing but emptiness and fell into a
heavy sleep. It was then that Cupid
appeared to save her. He revives her and
then brings her back to the temple to
complete his mother's task. Later, Cupid
asked Zeus to announce that he and Psyche
were married and grant immortality to his
bride. Then, Cupid and Psyche lived
together happily ever after.
