HARLEM RENAISSANCE/BLACK ARTS MOVEMENT BOOK

CLUB KICKOFF MEETING

EGO members and community guest received
an overview of the book club and selected the
books of the month for February-December
2020. In a salute to the Harlem Renaissance and
the Black Arts Movement (HR/BAM),the eleven
books will focus writings from Harlem
Renaissance authors such as Nella Larsen,
Wallace Thurman, and Jessie Redmon Fauset
and Black Arts Movement authors such as Nikki
Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez, and Ras Baraka. On
March 28, the Book Club will discuss "The
Blacker the Berry" by Wallace Thurman.

A WALK THROUGH HISTORY AND ART

Epsilon Gamma Omega's Target 1 & 4
collaborated in celebration of Black
History Month with two HBCU Gallery
Walk/Art in a Suitcase & Careers in Art
walking tours on February 11th at
Providence Elementary School and
Friday, February 14th at Montview
Elementary. Students came to the
cafeteria at their scheduled time to speak
with Sorors about the different HBCUs
and see artwork and hear about the artist
in the suitcase and careers in the Arts.
The walking tour attracted 200+ students
at Providence Elementary and 100+
students at Montview Elementary.
Students were excited about learning
several facts about historical black schools
and prominent figures in the Arts!
