We were welcomed to Las Vegas with the Pink and Green Fountain Lights—Fountains of Bellagio Opening
Ceremony on Thursday evening. On the preceding evening, Wednesday, a Fabulous Las Vegas Sign Lighting
Ceremony was held. This ceremony included history of the Las Vegas Sign.
The inaugural Risk Management Summit- Launching New Dimensions of Service in Risk Management was

held on Thursday, July 13 . Chapter Basilei and Membership Chairmen (graduate and undergraduate) and
Graduate Advisors were required to attend the one-day summit. The goal of the summit was to empower all
sorors to take an active part in eliminating, reducing and managing risks facing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated. The summit was designed to challenge sorors to examine existing chapter operations, behaviors
and practices that could jeopardize Alpha Kappa Alpha's brand and legacy of sisterhood and service. Through
thought provoking panel discussions and interactive workshops, sorors were able to discuss membership and
the MIP process, hazing, chapter operations, programs and reputation risks. Some sessions were designed for
undergraduates only.

Soror Adrienne P-K Washington, 24 South Eastern Regional Director and member of Epsilon Gamma Omega
Chapter, is a member of the International Risk Management Team and was a presenter at the summit and other
workshops during the Leadership Seminar. Soror Wilma J. Ruffin, Basileus of EGO, was a panel
participant/presenter for the breakout session-Risky Business: Why your chapter operations and Programs
May Put AKA At Risk.
