APRIL JOINT SORORITY MEETING
Article by Soror Lorraine Lacy; Photos by Soror Chris Winston
Saturday, April 8th was full day of activities for the
very busy sorors in EGO Chapter. Before the joint
monthly sorority meeting began at 10:00 a.m., a
“Chat and Chew” was held with the EGO Chapter
Basileus and a mentoring session was held with the
undergraduate members of the Omicron Zeta
Chapter. For more information on these activities
executed by the Membership Committee, see the
articles located in this newsletter.
The April Sorority meeting proved to be another busy
one. Members of Target II (Health Promotion) planned
a very successful Community Impact Day partnered
with the local National Alliance on Mental Illness
(NAMI) organization. The EGO representatives to the
North Alabama National Pan-Hellenic Council
(NPHC), Sorors Yvonne Sanderson, Erica
Washington, Kimberly Petty and Carol Parham,
continued to collect diapers and wipes to donate to the
Catholic Center of Concern. The Target I (Educational Enrichment) One Million Backpacks Sub-Committee
continued collecting backpacks to be
distributed locally. Target III (Family
Strengthening) established a partnership
with Delta Sigma Theta and Rise Against
Hunger to package 20,000+ meals on
Saturday, May 6. Target IV (Environmental
Ownership) continued to rally the sorors to
participate in the 2017 Earth Day
celebration on April 22nd at Hays Nature
Preserve. See the details located in this
edition. The icing on the cake was literally
the opportunity to wish our Diamond Soror,
th
Evangeline Spillman a Happy 98 Birthday!
God bless you Soror Spillman – we love you
so much. If you missed the celebration,
