Second Century Leadership in Alpha Kappa Alpha

On Saturday,
March 25,
2017, the
Epsilon
Gamma
Omega
(EGO) Chapter Executive Committee
members participated in an information
sharing session of individual leadership role
duties. Soror Wilma Ruffin, Chapter Basileus
kicked off the session by presenting three
leadership elements: “Inspire, Influence, and
Motivate”. She stated that as a leader, “we
should strive to present the best version of
ourselves.” She encouraged the participants
to build personal leadership skills by using the three elements to provide leadership that will make a positive
impact on others.

Soror Ruffin further reiterated that chapter leaders can ensure that they live up to the standards that have been
established for our sorority if they understand the requirements and
responsibilities of the
individual offices they hold.
Working within the
framework of the individual
offices held helps to foster
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s
ideals and principles.

The session was enlightening
and enjoyable. Each attendee
learned new aspects of every
chapter officer position that
was highlighted. The grand
takeaway was that effective
leadership within a chapter
is vital to successful chapter
operations.
