Reflecting on 109 Years – Celebrating 75 Years
On Saturday, January 28, 2017, Epsilon Gamma Omega (EGO)
commemorated Founders’ Day with a “high tea” themed celebration
honoring new Silver, Golden, and Diamond Sorors at The Ledges in
Huntsville, Alabama. Additionally, the Soror of the Year, Golden
Soror of the Year, new retirees, and Sorors who earned degrees or
were appointed to positions in the Huntsville/Madison, Alabama
community received special recognitions. To celebrate this
occasion, Golden Sorors wore pink with golden accents; Silver
Sorors wore green with silver accents; and Sorors with fewer than
twenty-five years of service wore a combination of both pink and
green. Several Sorors enjoyed creating beautiful tablescapes that
were judged in a table decorating contest, and all attendees enjoyed
an assortment of delicious finger foods and a variety of flavorful
teas.
The highlight of the
afternoon included honoring
Epsilon Gamma Omega’s
first Diamond Soror,
Evangeline Spillman, who
was initiated into Beta Alpha
Omega Chapter in Newark, New Jersey in 1942. Soror Van, also an
EGO Charter Member, was presented with a lovely framed certificate
as well as a resplendent necklace which included a double-sided Alpha
Kappa Alpha pendent. As the only Soror adorned in cream, Soror Van
relished the love and attention that she received during this afternoon
of sisterhood and
celebration.
