Bench Ball Giants
Team sports are always very exciting and competitive. Park Lane pupils love Bench ball and we played it as a House event last Wednesday. Every year I can see the improvements in skills and tactics. Leadership skills are part of our PE curriculum so our pupils tried the role of being a captain and looked after their team and coached their players. This role is not an easy role in general. However, I have to say I was very proud of our captains. They did a fantastic job!

See what they have to say:
▨ “I liked having the authority and the moments when the team listened to me. It was difficult to keep their attention and make them listen to me all the time. It was also tricky to be a player and coach at the same time,” said Tymur Kovalenko.
▨ “I liked making the decisions. I think I split the team very well so every time I had good players on a court. It was difficult for me to make a decision about who will be on the bench,” said Patrik Macek.
▨ “I liked when they were listening but keeping their attention was hard,” said Nicholas Butler
▨ “I liked being a captain very much. It felt great when the team listened to me. I liked rock, paper, scissors responsibility and it was difficult to choose a player on a bench,” said Elias Gschwendtner.
▨ “It was super. I was a captain for the first time and happy I could try how it feels.
I liked when they were listening to me. It was difficult to cheer them up after a loss and support them to a new game and also difficult to pick the team,” said Tonda Mech.
▨ “I enjoyed being a captain but it was difficult to make the team listen to me,” said Klaudie Vachova.
▨ “It was great that I could choose the team and we got the dojo points. I found it diffi- cult when the team was not paying attention,” said Kaila Elias.
▨ “It was great! I felt unique! I liked the fact that I could help people out. The hard thing was when we lost and people were moaning and mad at me. I did explain to them it is the team’s fault, not mine. Not everybody got it. I also explained that arguing is going nowhere and for the next three games we did not argue!” said Sofie Hendrychova.
▨ “It felt great and exciting to be a captain. I found it difficult to speak out,” said Ben Higgins.
▨ “I loved to lead them to the win but it was difficult to pick the team,” said Patrik Hartman.
Park Lane Mile
On Wednesday, 5th October all pupils took part in our annual school event known as the Park Lane Mile. The weather was good, food was good, parents and teachers super supportive and the children were brilliant! Well done to everybody!!!

What the pupils say:
▨ Kaila says, "I won third place again and I’m happy. I had the chance to be second but Lily fell and I let her get up again and finish before me. I really enjoyed it."
▨ Tymur says, "I really enjoyed the Park Lane Mile because I love running and doing physical things. I came fourth. I don’t mind that I didn’t finish first because I just liked the day. Next time, I won’t run so fast at the start so that I am.
