Kick off with
Karol Kisel!
As part of the World Cup reading focus Year 7 were invited to listen to Karol Kisel speak about his professional career in football. Mr. Kisel played
for FC Lokomotiva, Ozeta Duka, the Bohemians, FC Sparta and FC Slovan,
as well as playing for Sydney Australia. Throughout his career he scored 88 goals, which is quite an achievement! Mr. Kisel spoke how hard it is to become a pro- fessional footballer and the need to be resilient to “train, train and train some more". The students, especially the boys, were fascinated and peppered him with questions.

READING
Million word readers
The students from Y6–Y9 have read
a staggering 30,413,829 words between them. These are the words counted by the Accelerated Reader program and so it does not count the many books read by the older students which are not in the AR system.
6E are in the lead in Y6 with 6,781,240 words read collectively while 9P are in the lead in KS3 with 3,816,095 AR words read collectively.
Special congratulations should go to Sofia V with an impressive 3,000,000 words read, while Minha (6K) and Lilly H each have 1,000,000 words.
