The world has become a global village and English is spoken around the globe. Since every state has a
language of its own, English serves as a unifying factor for people from different parts of the world to discuss
and find solutions to national problems and find a common ground within the differences. In this way, English
serves as an important means of national integration. English is also essential in the field of education. As
said, “To have another language is to possess a second soul.” In many countries, children are taught and
encouraged to learn English as a second language. The English language is acting as a tool to bridge the gap
between the industry and academia as it is seen as an important element in reaching diverse work
environments. It has become the working of English and also an inevitable requirement for a number of fields
and professions. Companies that want to function at an international level only consider their staff well

educated if they are good English speakers, writers, and readers. At this level, English can serve as a
common ground for the Indians as well as the common link between Indians and the rest of the world.
Knowledge of the language positively influences relations within a country as well as international relations.
India is on track of becoming one of the greatest global powers and English plays and will continue to play an
important part in the growth of individuals within its society. Hence, if one has to survive in today’s cut throat
competition one should have a good command over English.
Whether you are just starting out in English or you need some motivation to keep going, understanding the
importance of the language will help you reach fluency and change your life.
“The English language is nobody's special property. It is the property of the imagination: it is

the property of the language itself.”
