In Charlotte’s Web, there is a pig named
Wilbur who was born on a farm. Mr Arable
wants to kill Wilbur because he is a runt, but
Fern, Mr Arable’s daughter, saves him. Fern
raises Wilbur until he is sold to Mr Zuckerman
who is Fern’s uncle. Fern visits Wilbur often as
Wilbur gets used to his home. However, Wilbur
is lonely and none of the other animals wants
to play with him. One day Wilbur hears a voice
that offers friendship and its source is a spider
named Charlotte. Charlotte and Wilbur become friends. But Wilbur learns that Mr Zuckerman plans
on killing him in the winter. Charlotte promises to save Wilbur’s life anyhow. Charlotte tricks Zucker-
man by writing words on her web. She writes “Some Pig”, “Terrific” and “Radiant” over time with the
help of Templeton the rat. This brings hundreds of people to the farm and Mr Zuckerman takes him
to a county fair as a show pig. Charlotte travels to the fair for one more word. She grows weaker
but still manages to write one word- “Humble” that wins Wilbur a medal. Also, at the fair, Charlotte
makes an egg sac that contains thousands of little eggs. Wilbur takes the egg sac back to the farm
and Charlotte dies alone at the fair. Wilbur watches the egg sac until one-day little spider babies
begin to emerge. Wilbur is overjoyed to see Charlotte’s children but they start flying into the wind.
However, some children stay back and live in the door frame where Charlotte once lived. In the end,
Wilbur watches over Charlotte’s children and grandchildren's children . But never forgets the sacrifice
Charlotte made for their friendship .
