Indra Jatra Celebration

I watched Grade 4’s Indra Jatra event with my friends at school.
Everyone from kindergarten to Grade 5 watched the performance.
After we all were seated, Pulukisi came. It is a white elephant who
has the spirit of Indra. Behind Pulukisi there were lots of other peo-
ple dressed in Newari cultural dress and make-up. They danced and
paraded with the Pulu Kisi. After that the Lakhe came dancing. The
Lakhe wore a huge scary mask but I was not much scared because he
was just dancing. Soon, the chariots of Ganesh, Bhairab and Kumari
were brought. People pulled their chariots as the gods sat on their
chariots. Kumari looked very beautiful. After some time, Pulukisi and
Lakhe came again. This time, I was scared by the Lakhe because he
went near the students who were watching and tried to scare them.
As the Lakhe danced, a jhyalincha teased him. Jhyanincha is a person
who distracts Lakhe and Lakhe chases him away. Lakhe had been
going near grade 1 and 2 students. Just then to my horror, he jumped
near me as I screamed “Aaaaaahhh!” on top of my voice. We learned a
lot about Indrajatra Festival and had a lot of fun as we watched Grade
          4’s Indrajatra celebration.

          My Picnic Plan

I am planning for a picnic this Saturday. I want to go to the park. I wish to go there because it is
near my house. I don’t want to spend much time travelling. Instead, I want to spend my time at the picnic
spot itself. At the park, there are a lot of plants and there is fresh air all around.
I would like to go for the picnic with my mom, my sister and my father. My father will drive us to
the park in his car. I would pack sandwiches, burgers, samosas, pizza, juice, momos, cake, sausages, peas,
rice, noodles, cheese cake, salad and chocolates for the picnic. I would also take along some paper plates
and glasses to eat our food. We will spread a carpet on the ground and sit together to eat.
At the park I would like to play card games like the Salute game with my family. I learned to play
the Salute game at my school. I also want to play “I Spy” and hide and seek with my sister. Me and my
sister will hunt for some dragonflies and butterflies to see what they look like. We will dance and sing too.
After we are done, we will pack up everything and go back home. I think it will be a wonderful experi-
          ence.
