2. 您對工作或事業的期望
Having studied law for one and a half years, I reaffirmed my interest in the legal
profession. However, I do not wish to follow the standard career path of a lawyer
-it may guarantee a decent pay but certainly not fresh initiatives. Rather, I would
like to opt for a different position that meets the changing needs of our society.
Being fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the first batch of students to read
the HKU-PKU dual degree program in law, I wish to utilise my legal knowledge
of both jurisdictions so as to target the evolving challenges that come with the
integration of Hong Kong and the mainland. For instance, more commercial
disputes may arise because of increased regional trading. It would then be high
time that lawyers across the borders work closely and I am more than willing to
be one.

Apart from facilitating cross-border commercial activities, I also aspire to help
address the legal issues that arise because of the integration. Although the two
legal systems are in nature differently, it is no doubt that there will be a way out
balancing the interests of both communities as long as there is mutual trust and
understanding, coupled with a group of passionate legal practitioners. Therefore,
I hope to devote myself to formulate an effective cross-border legal framework
and hopefully with the guidance and support from seniors of HKPASEA who share
the same belief.
