Concrete Cutting
The team at Grays have been super busy tidying up and re-organising the depot
and offices in readiness for the planned reconfiguration of the existing layout. This
will be shared with the Environmental (Asbestos Removal) Department and promises
to be ergonomic and slick in design...we are hoping to have moved to the new
area by early 2024!
With a new management structure, Concrete Cutting is re-energised and pushing
forward with changes to create a more streamlined and efficient department.
Jetty Removal in Holehaven
Creek...
The Port of London Authority engaged
John F Hunt Concrete Cutting to
remove the Jetty known as Holehaven
Pier in Holehaven Creek, Canvey Island,
a tidal area of the Thames.
The structure has been subjected to
vandalism and there were concerns for
its structural safety and stability. A river
tugboat was used to haul a pontoon,
which was carrying a John F Hunt
Plant Hire PC210, loaded at Dartford
and carried down the Thames by the
Tugboat.
The Pier is being demolished from the
top down and involves the staged
demolition of the Jetty, timber office and
associated mechanical equipment. This
will be followed by the deck and support
structure, with either the extraction or
cutting to bed level of the piles.
Two small safety boats stand by in the
water for emergencies and a PC138
machine is now loading lorries to remove
the demolition arisings for onward re-use
and recycling.
New recruits needed!
Due to an ever-increasing workload in our Northern and Scottish depots,
our Concrete Cutting operations are seeking experienced Diamond Drilling
Operatives (NVQ 2) for continuous work across the region.
