and then decided to elope and the rest is history! We have 3 girls - Laurel is 10, Whitney is 6
and Fiona is 5.

What’s it like being the only guy in a house full of girls? Is there much drama?
Yeah, I really don’t have a clue what’s coming. I grew up with 2 brothers. Everyone keeps
telling me, “just wait!” Laurel has just started the “I’ll take the computer and phone to my
room” phase. Whit and Fiona just spend all their time finding ways to pester each other. But
they are all sweet. Really, it’s not that bad. You may want to follow up with me on that
question in a few years.

I hear you have a twin brother. Identical or fraternal? How was that growing up?
Yes, I have a twin brother Brian. We are identical. He’s 10 minutes older than me. We did all
the twin stuff growing up. We switched classes on our teachers in middle school. Of course, all
of our friends knew but after ten minutes I was busted. The teacher thought it was so funny she
let the joke go on just to prank Mr. Morman, the other teacher. Mr. Morman only found out at
the end of class. That was funny. The worst thing I can remember as a kid was receiving combo
gifts on our birthday. Take it from me, don’t do that to twins!

Don’t you have an interesting birth story to tell about one of your kids?
Yeah so about 7 weeks before Fiona’s due date, Elizabeth had to stay the night at Northside
because she was having false labor. One week later she was having the same pains in the
middle of the night. She called the OB and they told her to come in that morning if it continued.
So around 5:00 am we got up and she said she wanted to go in. I got the kids up and in the
truck and as she got in her water broke. We got to the end of the street and she said “We are
not going to make it, just stop!” So, I floored it and called 911 and told them we were going to
a nearby fire station. We got there and I told 911 that the lights were off. He said, “they are in
there. They are coming out.” Right then Elizabeth said, “here she comes!” I ran around and just
put my hands out and she fell into them. A firefighter then opened the door and then ran back
in. Then all of the doors opened and they all ran out with their gear and a stretcher board. I
remember one of them asking me if I wanted to cut the cord and that’s when it hit me because
my hands were shaking. They took Elizabeth and Fiona inside and placed them under the
heater between the two trucks. That was crazy!

What two words best describe you?
I’m very persistent. I don’t like to lose or fail, and if I see something that bothers me, I’ll just
keep coming back to it. I also feel that I’m openminded. I’m not afraid to try new things, even
if it results in failure.

What hobbies do you enjoy away from the office?
I’m really pretty simple. I like to fish and brew beer. I grew up in Florida and love to fish. There
are some good fishing spots around here but nothing beats fishing in the ocean. I hate that my
