THE SCOOP | MARCH 2019
Community Outreach
The Valdosta CSC recently
participated in a Community
Outreach Event in the Valdosta
area. On February 9th, CSC Manager
Denisa Smiley and Team Members
Carolyn Miley, Polisha Jenkins and
Chantel Arrington set up a booth in
the Valdosta Mall. They were able
to connect with the community in a
more casual environment; answering
questions about different classes of
licenses and providing different types
of licensing manuals. They were
able to connect with a representative
from the Department of Labor
who works with non-residents and
others. They answered several questions about licensing requirements and needs specific
to non-citizens. They spoke with customers about the different forms and documents
that are needed for renewal. The Valdosta Team had the opportunity to tell visitors about
the DDS2GO mobile app and our online services. Some visitors downloaded the app
on their phones while at the booth. They spoke with 14 and 15 year old teens that were
getting ready to get their licenses and provided them with all of the necessary information.
The Valdosta Team enjoyed handing out some DDS Swag items and the opportunity to
be in a setting that seemed easier for people to relate. District Manager Donna James
commended the Team and said it was a GREAT day!
CPS Did you know?
The new license design is on the left. Although they are similar, what are some of the
features of the new card? The Real ID Star will be black instead of gold; the photos will be
in black and white instead of color; only one ghost image will be in the bottom right corner
and an outline of the State of GA is included after the A in Georgia.
