Dasher Public Safety Appreciation BBQ

For the last 30 years following the end of the legislative session, hundreds of law enforcement
officers, first responders, elected officials, and department heads descend upon a farm off GA
196 in Glennville for an annual appreciation bar-b-que that’s legendary across the state. The
event, hosted by Wayne Dasher, a Georgia Department of Corrections Board member, typically
doubles as a venue for bill signings. It was here in 2015 that Governor Deal signed into law SB
100, a sweeping piece of legislation that eliminated nearly all of the non-driving related license
suspensions and was featured at the 2015 AAMVA Region 1 Conference in Hershey,
Pennsylvania.
This year, the event was held on April 13th and was attended by Commissioner Spencer R.
Moore, Deputy Commissioner Ricky Rich, OIS Director Rick Miller, OIS Deputy Director Lance
Taylor, Governmental Affairs and Communications Director Mike Mitchell, Field Operations
Director Cynthia Sneed, and Human Resources Director Deborah Moore.
