The Lion King

By day you can find him in the IT Division managing the six-member DDS web team. After hours, did
you know that Joe Couchaine is the Covington Lions Club President? Ordinary People…Amazing
Things. That is the motto of the Covington Lions Club – a service based organization that is dedicated
to providing vision and hearing services for those who cannot afford them.
One of Joe’s many Lion duties is official pit master for the groups’ largest fundraiser of the year – the
Covington Lions Club 45th Annual Chicken BBQ. Joe and his helpers served approximately 3,200
chicken plates with all the trimmings. This year’s BBQ raised approximately $14,000. In addition to
providing eye exams and hearing aids, the donations will be used to help fund the Camp for the Blind
in Waycross, Georgia, the Georgia Light House Foundation, Leader Dogs and the Learning Ally.
Murali Kondepati from the IT group volunteered to help Joe man the grill all night and also attended
the event (pictured with Joe above). Several others DDS Team Members purchased carry-out tickets
and enjoyed the mouthwatering chicken while supporting Joe and a very worthy cause.
