Chapter 4: The final journey
Finally, after many difficult days, we
reached the seaport. This was where we
would take the big boat to one of the
rich countries. There were a lot of
people from many other countries
already waiting — men, women, young
people and children. We stayed there
for two days.
Late at night on the second day, we were
told to get onto a rubber vessel. We
were taken to a waiting boat. They kept
on packing people on the boat without
stopping. We were all given a lifejacket.
This comforted us.
I told Zuri, “This does not seem to be safe
at all!”
