FLORIST - a bouquet of flowers

For florists, flowers are the business. They are one of the best gifts to receive
and to give due to their striking beauty, their delicate and intriguing textures,
and their wide array of vibrant colours. In addition to these amazing traits,
many flowers also have sweet, lovely, and intoxicating scents. If you’d like to
include some fragrant flowers in the next bouquet you gift to someone
or yourself, here are some of the top smelling florals.

Lilies come in a range of no smell, light, and pleasant
smelling, to overwhelmingly fragrant and perfumed, like Lilium
                  orientalis ‘Stargazer’.
Lavender’s scent has been cherished for centuries and used for it’s
soothing and calming properties. Fresh cut lavender can last for over
a week in water and since it dries well, its aroma can be enjoyed for a
                  long time afterwards.
Chrysanthemums flowers and foliage have a fresh, aromatic fragrance
that gives flower shops their distinctive “floral” scent.
Chrysanthemum flowers are second only to the rose in worldwide cut
flower sales. They have been cultivated in China since the 15th
century B.C. Chrysanthemum flowers are natural air cleaners.
One study conducted by NASA found potted mums to be among the
plants which absorb pollutants through their leaves and neutralize
                 them through their roots.

Roses didn’t become the go-to flower just because of their stunning
and unique blossoms. On the contrary, the rose has a pleasant,
powerful fragrance that many people associate with romance,
happiness, and other very good things. Sadly, some blooms
available commercially, are devoid of fragrance, having had their scent
gene removed in order to extend their shelf life. Smell the flowers first..
                 and then make your bouquet!

Asking which flowers smell the best is comparable to asking which
flowers are the most beautiful. The answers vary depending on the
person. Some people prefer flowers with lighter, more subtle scents,
while others love flowers with strong fragrances. What’s most
important is that you love what you smell, and smell what you love.
