the dash and pushing it out. No need for special tools. Once the stereo and such are out it will reveal a couple of hidden nuts you have to remove to drop the low- er panel off.
Unscrew the key surround plastic piece. It simply unscrews counter clock- wise and will reveal the ignition switch behind it.
Now for the fun part. The factory in- stalls the ignition switch assembly and column to the car using security bolt which have heads that sheer off when they are torqued down. The removal method is a chisel and a hammer hit- ting the head of the bolt in the counter clockwise direction. The good news is that once you get about a full turn of the bolt with the chisel, they usually spin out easily by hand from there. There are 5 in total that have to be removed, 2 on the steering wheel end of the column holding it to the dash, 2 on the ignition switch behind the round cover you re- moved earlier, and 1 holding the ignition switch assembly to the column. They all come out with the same method and a little patience.
Below you can see the column where the bolts are located. The red circles in- dicate where the security bolts are, and the blue are just regular allen bolts (they would be found down in the area above the pedals).
And where the ignition lock assembly slides into the column is the last one.
And as you can see, hitting the chis- el into the head turns them out without much issue. Remember, hit in the left loosey direction.
