        Pre-Research Day Activities




          Marketing. Posters and flyers were created  internally and circulated on notice boards  on both

          campuses. Poster/fliers were also circulated on social media platforms such as Whatsapp, Instagram

          and Facebook.



          Invitation letters were emailed to the following schools:

                       •  Bridgeport High School

                       •  Waterford High School

                       •  Ascot High School

                       •  Cumberland High School

                       •  The Cedar Grove Academy



          Late calls were made to follow up on the invitation, however hard copies of the invitation were not

          delivered to the schools.



          Research Database.  A database of all the research work to be showcased on research day by

          participants in either the oral presentations and/or research poster competition was created and is

          maintained by the  Research  Unit.  An email address  research@pcc.edu.jm  was also created to

          facilitate formal communications with presenters.



          Research Poster Competition.  Guidelines  and  a  submission form  for the research poster

          competition were  approved by the Senior Management Team  and  circulated through the

          departments (see appendix 1a and 1b). Students were encouraged to submit entries by the stated

          deadline of March 22 . Three judges were selected and provided with a scoring rubric to guide the

          judging of the research posters (see appendix 2). Five entries were received from 2 groups and 3

          individuals (see entries listed in table 1 on page 5).
